How to put RSS feeds from Pro-Talk websites on to your website

Chris Rand writes: RSS News Feeds are being offered by an increasing number of websites, and one of the coolest things about the technology is being able to incorporate them on your website. Supposing you run a website - it could be "personal" webspace or something quite low-key - and you want to include constantly updated material from elsewhere without any expense or effort. Why not add in a "feed" from an external news site? It's now very easy.

Obviously we're going to promote our own RSS feeds here, although there are many out there. We have feeds from all the Pro-Talk websites covering different technology categories and even different suppliers' news.

So how is it done? It's easy. It should take you no more than a few minutes to set upon your own site.

First, find the feed you want to include; you're looking for the URL of the RSS News Feed, which will be something like http://www.buildingtalk.com/indexes/categorybrowsevv_rss.xml. We have product-based feeds from all of our sites, as well as feeds from every company featured, and a general feed too.

» For the general feed of the site's latest headlines, click on the General link below.
» For a company specific feed, click on the Suppliers link, which will take you to that site's complete company listings. Find the company you want there, click through to that company's page, and you'll find the RSS News Feed linked.
» For a product or technology specific feed, click on the Product link, which will take you to that site's complete product section listing. Find the product category you want there, click through to that page, and you'll find the RSS News Feed linked.
